September is here! Lily is heading into year one and another school year is about to start.
Lily's moving into year one and it will be her first year of formal learning (I'm of the view that reception doesn't really count as formal learning), she'll be starting lessons in subjects she didn't get to do last year and she'll be mixing in class of older children (her school has mixed year group classes).
Science is the subject thought that she is looking forward to the most. It was one of the first things she talked about after her move up sessions talking about how she'd seen a display board for the subject. Lily has always been a curious girl. She's constantly asking questions about why things grow, how they work and I think it's a subject she'll really indulge in.
We also (finally) reach history lessons! This is mummy's time to shine. I'm rubbish at maths, literacy, science and most other things but history, I can help with ANY history homework. It's something we both enjoy doing together.
I think she's also excited about more school trips. They went on two outings in reception class; to a local panto at Christmas and to the zoo before the end of the year. School trips are always great experiences and they are something you seem to always remember. I have loads of school trip memories and they've lasted longer than some others.
Hopefully, it'll be as successful and positive as reception has been for us!
