No this isn't the sequel track to the Hoedown Throwdown (we've watched a lot of Disney+)! Lockdown is proving tougher for us all than we initially thought so here's an update on what we've been up to!
Lily is getting back into the swing of homeschool. We had two weeks off for Easter (we're sticking to the school calendar for the sanity of our whole family) and we're trying to keep the enthusiasm there.
Her school have been great and posted timetables online, but to be honest, we're creating our own. We're working through topics she's interested in and trying to incorporate new things such as gardening, cooking and even sewing. Lily and I have been learning how to sew together and have been working on craft projects like her new hairband station.
As well as her keeping up with school work, Lily has also been doing some Sunday school activities. Sunday school is something Lily looks forward to every week and really enjoys and I wanted to make sure she still got to do that at home. I've been using Twinkl for our home school supplies and was amazed to find an area for Sunday school resources. We even sent some pictures to the local people who run Lily's Sunday school so they can see what she's been doing.
We've also been trying to improve some of her skills through games. We've bought a second hand scrabble Junior set to help with her spelling, the magic cauldron game from orchard toys for maths and many more. Scrabble Junior has been a lot of fun not only for Lily, but for Matt and I as well. It's a game we can all get involved in and as she gets older, I find that Lily is becoming just as (possibly evermore) competitive as Matt and it makes games so much more fun!
Cecily is now walking everywhere. She's still a little wobbly and falls, but not as much as before. It's funny watching her waddle around like a penguin and try to catch up with Lily. She's also been joining in with Lily's dance lessons (which are now being done via videos) which is so cute! The hard part though is that she now hates being sat in her highchair or pram. She wants to walk alongside us but sometimes, that just not safe. We live in a village so even when out walking, there are some places where there's no pavement and she can't walk with us.
As for me, I'm working through my new Mrs Hinch: The Little Book of Lists book my sister sent me. I've always enjoyed having a tidy home, I find I can relax more whne everything is clean but since this whole lockdown thing started, I've found it helps me add structure to my day and keep me going. There's also something really satisfying about having ticked off all the things you set out to achieve, even if it is only a few small things.
